The Maritime Dance Performance Group
is a registered not-for-profit organization, and has established itself over the past thirteen years as an organization which provides an innovative environment where talented young dancers can further expand their technical dance abilities with performance-orientated training and experience, given by the most respected teachers and choreographers in our community.
Our dancers have received scholarships from the Nova Scotia Talent Trust, and gone on to pursue professional dance careers at prestigious training centers such as The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, and Concordia University.
The group was founded in 1999, and is currently comprised of fifteen dancers from Maritime Dance Academy’s Intensive Training Program, who have successfully auditioned for the group. Our annual spring showcase at Alderney Landing Theatre attracts audiences of 400+ every season.
Performance Group has commissioned more than 80 pieces by more than 20 individual choreographers. We remain proud supporters of the exceptional choreographers in our community, as well as active cultivators of choreographic endeavors by the members of our company.
